নুসরাত জেরিন | Nusrat Zerin

নুসরাত জেরিনের জন্ম নব্বই দশকের প্রথমার্ধে, এক কনকনে শীতের কুয়াশাঢাকা ভোরে, বাংলাদেশের একটি ছোট্ট শহর মাদারীপুরে। জন্মস্থানেই কেটেছে শৈশব-কৈশোর। শান্ত শৈশব, মায়ের সাহচর্য আর ছোট মামার মিনি লাইব্রেরি, ছেলেবেলাতেই তার একটা স্বতন্ত্র জগত তৈরি করেছে – কল্পনার জগত, প্রশ্ন তৈরি আর উত্তর খোঁজার জগত। ছোটবেলায় দাদা ডাকতেন মিনি  বলে, রবিঠাকুরের ‘কাবুলিওয়ালার’ মিনি; আঁধো আঁধো বুলিতে গাল ভরে গল্প বলায় এমন নামকরণ। লেখালেখির শুরুটা কবে বলা মুশকিল হলেও প্রকাশনায় নুসরাতের হাতে খড়ি ক্লাস ফাইভে, বাবার অফিসের ম্যাগাজিনের পাতায়। এরপর স্কুল, কলেজ, ভার্সিটির ম্যাগাজিন, নিজের ডায়েরি বা খবরের কাগজের বিশেষ সংখ্যা পেরিয়ে তার লেখা সহজ ঠিকানা খুঁজে নেয় মুখবই এর পাতায়। নিজের অনিয়মিত লেখার ক্ষুদ্র পাঠকপরিসর থেকে পাওয়া বই প্রকাশের উৎসাহ তার প্রথম বই ‘অন্তর্লীণ’ প্রকাশের অনুপ্রেরণা যুগিয়েছে। নুসরাতের পড়াশোনা ও পেশা প্রকৌশল বিষয়ে হলেও লেখাকে মনে করেন আশ্রয়, কবিতাকে সোউল হিলার। তিনি মাতৃত্ব উপভোগ করেন, ভালোবাসেন ভ্রমণ। টুকটাক গবেষণা, ছবি তোলা বা রান্না করা সমান প্রিয় তার কাছে। প্রথম বৃষ্টির পর সোঁদা মাটির গন্ধ একদিকে যেমন স্মৃতিকাঁতর করে তাকে, আমার সোনার বাংলার  সুর তেমনি শিহরিত করে প্রত্যেকবার। নুসরাতের কাছে মাইলস টু গো এর চাইতে লেটস নট কাউন্ট স্টেপস  বেশি স্বস্তিদায়ক মনে হয়। হিসেব না রাখা পদচিহ্নের সেই তালিকায় আরেকটি সংযোজন লেখক হিসেবে তার আনুষ্ঠানিক আত্মপ্রকাশ।

Nusrat Zerin was born in the first half of the 1990s, on a fog-covered winter dawn in the small town of Madaripur, Bangladesh. Her childhood and adolescence were spent in her birthplace. A peaceful childhood, her mother’s companionship, and her younger maternal uncle’s mini library helped shape a world of her own from an early age — a world of imagination, of asking questions and seeking answers.

As a child, her grandfather used to call her ‘Mini’, after Mini from Rabindranath Tagore’s Kabuliwala, because of her endless chatter and storytelling in her innocent little voice. Although it is difficult to pinpoint exactly when her journey into writing began, Nusrat’s first published work appeared when she was in fifth grade, in her father’s office magazine. Later, her writing found space in school, college, and university magazines, in her personal diaries, and in special newspaper editions, before eventually finding a familiar home on social media platforms.Encouragement from the small circle of readers of her occasional writings inspired her to publish her first book, Antarleen (Hidden Within). Although Nusrat’s academic background and profession are in engineering, she considers writing her refuge and poetry her soul healer.

She enjoys motherhood and loves traveling. Research, photography, and cooking are equally close to her heart. The earthy scent of soil after the first rain fills her with nostalgia, while the melody of Amar Sonar Bangla stirs her emotions every single time.To Nusrat, “Let’s not count steps” feels more comforting than “Miles to go.” And her formal debut as an author is another addition to that uncounted trail of footprints.
